Welcome to Wendy Hempen Photography and thanks for visiting! I absolutely love taking pictures! For me, photography is like an ever-changing, never-ending puzzle that I am constantly trying to solve. My lens allows me to see detail and beauty in this world that, before becoming a photographer, I would have otherwise overlooked and underappreciated. My goal is to capture the beauty that I see and share it with others. Nothing makes me happier than one of my pictures putting a smile on someone's face!
A Little About Me...
I am a wife and a mother of three boys based out of Erie, Colorado, a growing little town between Denver and Boulder. I was born and raised in a small mountain town in Colorado, but have lived in several other states over the past 25 years. I am so happy to be back in my beautiful home state! I love to travel and experience new cultures, food, and landscapes; and my camera always comes along on these adventures.
Growing up, my dad was a photographer and would develop many of the photos himself, which I found fascinating! The smell of the chemicals in the dark room is something I'll never forget! I think this experience instilled in me the idea that photographs are an important way to preserve memories that would otherwise fade with time. Early on I started creating photo albums as a way to organize all the photos, and even today my friends and family tease me for all the albums I have around the house and bring out during conversation!
It wasn't until after college that I realized I liked taking the pictures myself and started learning how to use a camera. Over the years it has become a true passion and something that I want to continue to develop and polish.
